How to get to Alleppey from Cochin and Trivandrum airports

There are many ways to get to Alleppey.

It all depends on your travel needs, like the place you want to go to, where you want to leave from (Cochin airport or Trivandrum airports), and how you want to get there.

Here, I’ll tell you how to get to Alleppey, Kumarakom, and Kollam, which are three of the most popular places in the Backwaters and from which you can easily reach all the others by bus or boat.

How to get to Alleppey from Cochin

Alleppey is easy to get to from both the airport and the city of Cochin.

*Note: Buses and taxis take longer than normal to get places because of roadworks on the NH66 expansion until September 2026.

From Cochin Airport

One can take a public bus from Cochin Airport to Alleppey town,

From Cochin City

If you are in and around Ernakulam you can get to Ernakulam South Railway Station (Kochi metro and several bus shuttles are available)

Take the train from ERS Ernakulam Railway Station to Alleppey Railway Station and, from there, take the public transport or cab service available to Alleppey boat station Hub. Alternatively, you can take autorickshaw from train station prepaid counter
Choose the shuttle service from KSRTC Centre bus station in Ernakulam and Vytilla Bus hub to Alleppey Bus Sation

From Fort Kochi

From Fort Kochi to Alleppey one can either hire a cab or take a bus. If you are opting for bus you will have to take two buses, first from Fort Kochi to Thoppumpady/Vytilla from there frequent shuttles to Alleppey

How to get to Alleppey from Thekkady

Frequent Bus are available from Kumily Bus depot KSRTC to Changancherry and Kottayam.From there you will have to take a connection bus to Alleppey.
